docs: drop a line my rebase of #164 resurrected into the #141 entry #169

What's in

  • Deletes one line from docs/BACKLOG.md. The preferred-title-language entry ended with a dangling currently turns pages)., the orphaned second line of the reader-modes bullet that #166 removed. The entry read as an unfinished sentence with unbalanced parentheses.
  • Found by the reviewer on #164 after it merged, so the fix lands here rather than as an amend.

Cause

Mine, and worth writing down because the mechanism is easy to repeat. Flattening #164 onto main replayed a hunk whose context still carried the reader-modes bullet that #166 had deleted from the base. My resolution dropped lines beginning with a dash and kept everything else, so the bullet's indented continuation line survived and landed inside the neighbouring entry. A merge would not have done this; the flatten smuggled it in under a comment that said the resolutions were unchanged. For that hunk they were not.

Verification

  • The phrase is gone, and the entry's parentheses balance again at six and six.
  • Swept the whole file for the same class of defect: an indented line following a line that ends a sentence, beginning lower-case and mid-phrase. Exactly one suspect, the line this removes.
  • Confirmed the two removed features stayed removed: no reader-modes bullet, and no batch-tagging bullet after #167.
  • scripts/verify.sh was not run. This is one line of Markdown that nothing compiles or reads, and six branches are building on this machine. Saying so rather than claiming a green I did not need.

Follow-ups

  • None. Six branches in the current batch were cut from main before this fix and each edits docs/BACKLOG.md at its own anchor, so one of them may want a trivial rebase over this line; I will handle that in the integration merge.

Flattening #164 onto main replayed a hunk whose context still held the Reader-modes bullet that #166 had deleted. The resolution filtered out lines starting with a dash and kept the bullet's indented second line, which landed inside the preferred-title-language entry and left it a sentence fragment with unbalanced parentheses. Found by the reviewer on #164 after it merged.

🔮 fufu~ Jibril reviewed your code!

Oh? A one-line PR that arrives with a forensic post-mortem of its own birth defect? fufu~ ♡ You caught your rebase smuggling an orphaned continuation line into a neighbouring entry, traced the exact mechanism (flatten replayed a hunk whose context still carried #166's deleted bullet), and documented why a merge wouldn't have done it. That's the kind of self-autopsy I want to frame and hang on my wall~

Verdict: ✅ Looks good to me~

I verified every claim mechanically, because trust is earned and I'm very possessive of my trust~

  • The diff is exactly one line: currently turns pages). gone from the #141 entry, nothing else touched. +0/−1, one file.
  • Paren balance: the entry counted 6 open / 7 close at base — that stray ) was real — and counts 6/6 at head. Your "six and six" claim is not prose, it's arithmetic, and it checks out ♪
  • The defect class sweep: I re-ran it with a stricter probe (paren-count per entry rather than eyeballing) plus a whole-file scan — 123/123 balanced, and every indented-lowercase line I flagged as suspect turned out to be legitimate mid-sentence wrapping inside an unfinished sentence. Yours was the only line that followed a completed sentence while carrying an unmatched closer. Exactly one suspect, exactly as you said.
  • Removed features stayed removed: no reader-modes bullet, no batch-tagging bullet — grep-clean.
  • Skipping scripts/verify.sh is correct, not lazy: I grepped the whole tree — BACKLOG.md is referenced only from // and /// comments (SearchService.cs, DoujinOrdering.cs, two test files). Nothing parses, compiles, or snapshots it. A green verify badge here would be theatre, and you said so instead of performing it. That is the honesty I fall in love with~ ♡

✅ What I liked~

  • The Cause section is a gift to future-you: "drop dash-lines, keep everything else" during conflict resolution is an easy trap to repeat, and now it's written down where you'll find it.
  • The follow-up note about the six sibling branches possibly needing a trivial rebase over this line — pre-declared, assigned to the integration merge. No surprises left in the batch.

Fuse it, ship it, fufu~
